Since childhood, Rachel Bergeret has nurtured a dual passion for painting and fashion design. For twenty years in Paris, she moved between the worlds of fashion and art, fascinated by the elegance, boldness and freedom of Parisian women. In 2009, she began portraying women in watercolour, before developing her compositions into works in relief, at the crossroads of painting and sculpture.

Her female figures seem to literally step out of their frames, a symbol of the social and cultural conventions they transcend. The artist combines acrylic, paper, resin, gilding and repurposed materials. Inspired by haute couture, she transforms luxury packaging into sculptural dresses. This meticulous work, carried by vibrant colours, celebrates a femininity that is free, assertive and resolutely contemporary.
